You are amazing. I know we haven't written much together, but your other logs? Gaaah. Spot on for Remus.
I don't even have the proper words to convey your awesome. But I guess it speaks for itself that I'm willing to admit that I'm stalkingkeeping track of your threads, huh? ;;
Thank you so, so much. This is just so lovely to hear—and amazingly timely: right when I was feeling insecure about him!! Seriously bolstering me beyond words. Thank you more!
I'm sad he's unconscious right now or he'd respond to Vanille's Broadcast Mind. More bonding will yet occur!
DON'T EVER FEEL INSECURE. You've morphed Remus into a wonderfully 3D character. (I still have hopes that Rowling with write a book centered around the Marauder Era. But, when I stumble across someone like you, I feel like...it's not necessary. You just...fill in the holes.)
She is going to worry about him. She's bad about doing that. Ask Hope. Vanille is definitely a mothering character. XD
Ooh, yes, I would love a Marauder-centric book! …Though I must admit, I'd probably find one difficult to cope with now that I have my own ideas about those char.s… which is terrible to say but means I really really appreciate the compliment. :D Means my ideas are still in the original's enticing spirit!
I think that's one of the greatest things about the HPverse, and perhaps one of the reasons why it's so popular: JKR created an absolutely enormous, rich, and detailed world, but left vast space in it for people's own imaginations to run rampant and fill in holes! I'm actually a scarily serious Lord of the Rings fanatic, and don't consider myself "all that into" Harry Potter; yet I greatly enjoy writing for HP characters and I'd never be comfortable trying it with LotR ones. There's more freedom to play in HP.
Aww, yay! Loop may be in dire need of that sort of sympathy; getting stabbed by Lestrange while she was disguised as Loop's late wife really did a number on him. Would you be interested in some sort of hospital visitation scene? I know they don't know each other quite well enough to warrant it, but we could possibly turn the Broadcast Mind into action tags…?
Either way, I look forward to playing more with Vanille. :D She might get along with my other char.s (Spike or Jane), too.
I have to agree with you there. I've played Lily for a long while and...I have some pretty strong - and controversial - ideas about her. I would hate to see her turned into some oblivious air-head. 8| I have a hard time stomaching James/Lily. I mean, where did that come from? When did her feelings do a 360? Or was it all a big flirting game? And, if it was, doesn't that make Lily...less morally correct/pure?
I think you can see that I agree with...a lot of leeway when it comes to HP characters. Some of them - like Lily - have so little known about them. You just have to put the pieces together and see how they fit in a game.
(Btw, I ♥ LotR. It feels wrong to RP those characters somehow. I'm afraid I will screw them up.)
Remus will get PLENTY of sympathy from Vanille. I can see her coming to visit him. Her personal boundaries are a bit...non-existent. She pretty much travels with/checks on/makes friends with whoever catches her attention. And he has definitely done that.
holy shit, you are SO GOOD. i spent a long, long time in HP fandom and used to play in a lot of potter-only games though I gave it all up some five-odd years ago. your Lupin, the research you put into portraying an intellectual, the latin and the canon and the headcanon, his warmth and darkness and secrets, is like the most delightful nostalgia for me. basically what I am trying to get at is idek how our characters would interact but THREADS THREADS THREADS THREADS FOREVER OKAY? ok.
Thank you so, so much! That means a lot to me! (It just doesn't come across as I type it but I'm really touched!!)
I know el zilcho about Claymore, but Scorched has made me realize I should change that.
We should totally stick Clare and Loop in an elevator or something. Hmmm… I have this log (http://community.livejournal.com/scorched_logs/149180.html?thread=3157692#t3157692) out there, if Clare's more likely to be hanging around HQ than Deneve…? I'm sure we could conjure something more dynamic, too. Nathan is a hoot, though I don't see him spending too much time with Loop… ;-) (Despite "I'm half expecting some dead mentor to form in them and give me some paternal advice".)
P.S. Ha! Aeri [Irene-mun] is the reason I joined this game, and remember you're a big reason she joined… I owe you!
plurk is a serially unreliable way to reach you, so I'm gonna ask here; any chance of curbing my urges for a River-Remus log by, uh, doing one? his verse, her verse, scorched verse, mwpp-era remus, meme prompt, years-later-au, just something set back when she was his pupil, whatever! I have a musebox I can throw up a post in. I miss writing with you.
Yes, yes, yes!! the idea that immediately springs to my mind is Scorched-verse, present time, set in Doorland: River telepathically reaching out to Lupin to let him know she's all right, or from a moment in her current home timeline ("Serenity"?) wanting his help/training/input with something. Could take the form of a dream for him (...so in fact, after we wrote it out on musebox or gdoc, etc., I could post it to Scorched for broadcast mind, if you liked?)... whatcha think?
OMG I LOVE THE IDEA OF IT BEING A LUPIN DREAM. lucid, obviously. part Mist magic, part River's psychic abilities (like when she looks through the 'door' in the sky over Miranda at the start of Serenity?) and part the training/communication their minds had with each other (legilimency?). I imagine something... Matrixy, so it starts out in the dojo, but maybe shifts and warps according to both their mood/memories over the course of the log? (like, Lupin could give her a tour of the Clinic, she could walk him through Serenity, things shift in bizarre ways because of River's natural madness... it'd be fun to play with!) and that gives me something to work with to start the thing. :D
idk if a log as a whole would be particularly interesting as a Broadcast Mind simply because of the length and format of a prose log (ie the POV switching). and I would feel slightly uncomfoy simply because I know there has been a River reserve recently and I legit wouldn't want someone to feel I was still present and playing with her. that said if you wanted to, once we completed the log, consider it game canon and use extracts of it in a Broadcast Mind (like you wouldn't directly copypasta from HP but you would quote lines or summarize scenes?) I would be fine with that.
Aw, man, I lost this earlier... BUT I HAVE IT NOW, MWAHA
So YES, this sounds completely perfect. And while I'd love to share it with folks somewhere, I see your point and that makes sense! So yes, we'll see wot's wot.
Your musebox seems like the place! Do you want to start or shall I?
